KAHOKA, Mo.- The mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of an Iowa City woman found on the side of Highway 136 near Kahoka, Missouri, in the early morning hours of October 26, 1996, continue to haunt family and friends of the victim, 21-year old Laura Van Wyhe. Presitigous attorney and long-time friend of Laura's, Anne Champion, as well as Laura's mother, Leanne, have relentlessly worked to find answers to questions that still haunt them about this case to this day.
Anne and Leanne joined Corey Stott on his Coffee Break program on 100.5 KMEM-FM for a two-part dive into the current status of this nearly 30-year old cold case. The purpose of the show was to bring renewed awareness to the case in the hopes of fresh information shaking loose that might push the investigation forward. This case is a bit different from most in that for as high profile a case as this was, there seems to be an even split between those in the local community who remember the case but seem to not want to talk about it, or those who seem to never have heard of it until now, even though they've lived here most of their lives.
